TAC Regional Meetings Preview Session
County officials gathered in Denton and Robertson counties this month for an early look ahead at next year’s legislative session. The meetings offered local leaders an opportunity to weigh in before the 90th Legislature begins in January and to align priorities that will shape county governance in the years ahead.
The conversation in Robertson County focused on two issues in particular: data centers and property tax reform. Both topics carry significant implications for Robertson County and communities across the state. The rapid expansion of data center infrastructure has raised questions about land use, tax incentives and strain on rural utilities. Meanwhile, property tax reform remains a persistent concern for county officials who must balance taxpayer relief with the revenue needed to fund local services.
With the session still on the horizon, county officials are getting an early start — and making it clear they intend to be heard.
Up Next: Tom Green County
During the interim, TAC Legislative Services schedules regional meetings with county officials to hear directly from them about local priorities and challenges. These discussions help the Legislative Services team prepare for public hearings on interim charges and for the next legislative session.
One more meeting in the spring series is upcoming, before a summer break ahead of the fall series. The final spring exchange will take place April 15 in Tom Green County.
