Are there new fireworks holidays?
HB 554 adds Juneteenth and HB 5084 adds Lunar New Year to the list of discretionary fireworks holidays. For the Juneteenth holiday, fireworks may be sold beginning June 14 and ending at midnight June 19 in a county in which the commissioners court has approved the sale of fireworks during this holiday period. To permit the sale of fireworks for Juneteenth, the commissioners court must adopt the order before June 1 of each year.
Fireworks may be sold beginning five days before the start of Lunar New Year and ending at midnight on Lunar New Year in a county in which the commissioners court approved the sale of fireworks during this holiday period. The Texas Legislature did not add an adoption deadline for the order by the commissioners court.
