AUSTIN – McLennan County Tax Assessor-Collector Randy H. Riggs was sworn in Friday, Jan. 9, as president-elect of the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) Board of Directors, marking another milestone in his distinguished public service career.
Riggs was elected president-elect by his colleagues on the TAC Board in December and will assume the role of TAC president in 2028 when the two-year term of the current president, Denton County Treasurer Cindy Yeatts Brown, ends. Comal County Commissioner Jen Crownover is TAC’s new vice president.
“The Texas Association of Counties plays a vital role in helping county officials serve Texans every day,” Riggs said. “I’m grateful for the confidence of my peers and look forward to working with leaders across the state to support strong, effective county government.”
Riggs has served as McLennan County Tax Assessor-Collector since 2012. He previously spent 12 years on the Waco City Council and served as TAC’s vice president in 2024 and 2025. He was also president of the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas in 2021-2022.
A graduate of Baylor University and a certified public accountant, Riggs has held numerous leadership roles on local and national boards and commissions. Outside of public service, he is an accomplished trumpet player and a charter member of the Waco Jazz Orchestra.
“Randy Riggs brings experience, integrity and dedication to his role as president-elect,” TAC Executive Director Susan M. Redford said. “We look forward to working with him and the full board as we continue serving Texas counties.”
TAC's Board of Directors includes at least one county official from each county office. Board members help set TAC's policy priorities and oversee the association’s budget and programs.
