The Border Zone Fire Departments (BZFD) Grant Program (FY2027)

The Border Zone Fire Departments (BZFD) Grant Program (FY2027), administered by the Texas Office of the Governor’s Public Safety Office (PSO), provides funding to professional fire departments in the Texas-Mexico border and coastal regions for specialized equipment, medical supplies, and maintenance. Eligible applicants are units of local government in 31 specific counties that operate a full-time fire department regulated by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP); notably, volunteer fire departments are ineligible. Funds can be used for equipment used in border security operations, medical supplies for incident response, and the maintenance or minor repair of vehicles, boats, and generators.
