Guadalupe County Elections Administrator Lisa Hayes
Guadalupe County Elections Administrator Lisa Hays helped develop the Citizen Elections Academy to educate residents on the electoral process.

Planning for an election is an enormous undertaking, Guadalupe County Elections Administrator Lisa Hays said. "We're throwing a party, basically, for 130,000 people," she said. "That's how many voters we have."
In other words, the work doesn't start and stop on Election Day. It's a year-round process. Residents have many misconceptions about the election process, Hays said, which is why she decided to develop the Citizens Election Academy in Guadalupe County, to help educate voters on the electoral process from voter registration to the reporting of results. The academy promotes transparency, combats misinformation, encourages civic engagement and builds trust in elections.
Hays shares about the academy and her work in an episode of the award-winning podcast Texas County Voice. Listen now.
